6th: Today we started class by reading the book Terrible Things: an Allegory of the Holocaust. We talked about how this book related to the Holocaust, in preparation for our field trip tomorrow. Then, we discussed how we would be editing/revising our narrative "On the Front Lines" stories in peer groups this time, rather than in partners. We go together with these peer revise/edit groups and worked together to revise/edit our narratives. The groups did not finish so we will continue to do this on Wednesday.
Homework: Get excited for our field trip to the Bremen tomorrow!
7th: Today we started class by discussing how we would "sell" our book to the class if we were giving a book commercial. Then, Miss D handed out the expectations on "book commercials" and students signed up to do one book commercial before the end of the term. Three super-excited students volunteered to do a book commercial today and we heard those in class and gave the students feedback. Then, Miss D discussed the African History Project that students would be starting. She assigned students to project groups and told them the topics they would research. Students went to the library to begin to get information on their topics and complete a KWL chart.
